Project overview
ODS (O’Dwyer Steel) was engaged by Lyonara Coldstores to supply, fabricate, deliver, and install 250 tonnes of structural steel and 10,000 sqm of Kingspan KS1000RW roof and wall panels for an extension to their existing cold storage facility in Mallow, Cork. The project featured a high bay cold storage warehouse with a 37-meter clear span lattice truss and 12-meter eaves height.
Scope of Work:
- In-house design and detailing using Tekla steel detailing software
- Fabrication, delivery, and installation of structural steel framework
- Application of intumescent paint for 60-minute fire protection
- Supply and installation of 10,000 sqm of Kingspan KS1000RW roof and wall cladding panels
- Site surveys using Trimble X7 point cloud scanning for precise measurements
- Setting out and verification of holding down bolts by ODS site engineers
Challenges and Solutions:
The project required precise coordination and attention to detail to ensure accurate fitment with the existing building. ODS utilised advanced 3D modeling and point cloud scanning technology to guarantee precision.
